A symposium on the topic of the real estate development in Slovenia, with special emphasis on the comparative development of real estate in the markets of Croatia and Serbia was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Friday, 7th December, on the premises of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, organized by the FIABCI national branch. In front of a hundred visitors, experts of all supporting branches of this industry, all of the current problems of the local and regional markets were brought to light.
Particularly interesting was the final panel where they selected speakers from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia comparatively commented certain solutions of tax policy, housing development, retail and logistics as well as hotel industries. It was concluded that the major problems in almost all markets, are in housing and with the lease of office space, in particular.
The basis of all the problems, however, is the fact that all three markets are relatively small in size and with lessening interest of potential investors. The accompanying economic crisis makes the situation even more complicated. Recession, debts, reduced interest and lack of vision and strategy are the undisputable problems that come along.
During the very useful discussions, the idea of regional cooperation and linking of all three markets imposed itself, so, regardless of the uneven development and different institutional arrangement, a market of over 15 million users, can be regarded as a unique space in which interested investors can provide for themselves a decent interest.
One of the conclusions is to continue with the professional connecting of interests and to further continue and strengthen the cooperation during the next meeting, which will be held during the of the Filipovic Conference, 9th and 10th April, in Zagreb at the Esplanade Hotel. For the continuity reasons, the dates have been scheduled for the appropriate panel, where mostly before the majority of the audience from the Croatia, local issues in accordance with the themes from Slovenia and Serbia, will be discussed.
This expected continuity will extend to Belgrade during the REBEC event which is scheduled for 17th June 2013.
