MAPIC 2015 - Final report

This year's MAPIC can be considered as a great success! Five days before the start bombings attacks in Paris caused anxiety and confusion. Panic and stress were overcome by common sense and poise, but a harsh reality in Europe, began to seriously erode investment thinking and decision-making.

Immediately after this unfortunate situation the organizers have posted a reassuring message to all participants of MAPIC event. Situation was under control. However, North of France was in a completely different atmosphere and kind of a psychosis. Cannes and its surroundings, the entire Cote d'Azur was spared during MAPIC. Security services were invisible, and only on 19th of November antiterrorist unit visited this event, but without much attention. The fact is that almost none of the business meeting could not ignore this attack and innocent victims in Paris and of course in the other parts of the world.

Lesser number of visits was no surprise. At the last moment somewhere between 15-17% of the visitors decided not to visit MAPIC 2015 and canceled all their scheduled business. This had an impact on the general atmosphere, but all visitors felt very safe thanks to perfect organization and impeccable control. This time we won’t deal with the numbers and statistics that organizers publish after each event. What matters the most is the overall conclusion that the investment atmosphere is still there. Investment risks in new business ventures are now more seriously considered but capital on the other side is there and looking for optimal investment opportunities to achieve success! Additional risks and possible increase in profit may bring bolder decision making.

Announcement of USA as the host country of this year's MAPIC event should be especially noted. Special accent should be put on the participation of American retailers, the first exhibition stand from Iran in the history of MAPIC, pavilion with numerous retailers from Turkey, and the announcement of the first MAPIC in Italy. The most interesting fact is that there were no visitors from the EX YU countries, except visitors from Serbia. This only confirms future expectations and events in our environment.
 
Visits from Serbia and region
This year according to organizers database, visitors from Serbia were on 17thplace. Serbian citizens who work for international companies were not counted in. As for the SEE region, which is now more commonly referred to as Balkans there is a growing interest in retail business. Turkish companies are still in market expansion on above mentioned territories. ImmoFinanz announced that they are searching for 10 new locations for retail parks in Serbia.

For REMIX TV Production this event was very successful. Old acquaintances were restored and new started. Judging by the first impression, there is a big number of retailers interested in Serbia. You can definitely expect more articles and news in the upcoming period. This is also a possibility for REBEC 2016 to be even more visited and better.
