Three meeting points for Serbia@MIPIM 2015
26th MIPIM in a row was opened yesterday. The organizers of MIPIM presented the 2% increase of attendance, which appears to be a great success, if we bear in mind that this year’s visits from Russia decreased by 80% compared to the last year's visit during the XXV MIPIM jubilee. This increase created by the visitors coming mainly from Turkey, Japan and the Middle East. This year, the city of Istanbul is the sponsor of the traditional evening reception at Carlton Hotel, which is organized every year at the end of the first day of MIPIM.
Unlike the last year, when there were no organized exhibitors from our country, this year, Serbia and Belgrade are present at three exhibition stands. This is a big improvement when compared to last year and we are proud that we were the partial "accomplices" in the total increase in the number of MIPIM 2015 visitors.
In addition to presentation of the grandiose project "Hellinikon", the company Lamda from Greece presented at their stand the image of the project "Beko" located in Lower Kalemegdan part of Belgrade, where this Greek company is also the investor.
The regional association of 12 municipalities from Banat jointly presented the existing investment potential in these municipalities. They were positioned just across from the stand of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of the Republic of Montenegro, on a well composed and organized stand for meetings with potential investors and in the first two days it was extremely well attended.
The Mayor of Belgrade Mr. Siniša Mali visited Banat stand before the beginning of the presentation of further development of the project "Belgrade Waterfront", which this time, was held on a special stand of Eagle Hills.
Last year, at the stand of Emaar Properties, "Belgrade Waterfront" development project had its premiere in the form of a presentation of the grandiose scale model, which is now displayed in the Geozavod building in Belgrade. A year later, Eagle Hills, the investor and developer of the project, attracted the attention of many visitors by creating an even better stand, where they exhibited a large model of the first two buildings, whose construction will start this summer. According to their purpose, these are housing/residential buildings, which by all the features and details seen at the presentation, follow all modern trends of these types of projects in the world.
The Mayor of Belgrade Mr. Siniša Mali started his presentation in the presence of the representatives of Eagle Hills investors, among others Ms. Rowina Armale and Mr. Nikola Nedeljković. In front of approximately a hundred of people, the start of the construction of these facilities was announced, as well as the next development steps of "Belgrade Waterfront" project. The Mayor presented what was accomplished in the past year at the institutional level that allowed the acceleration of the development process of this project. Mr. Nikola Nedeljković shed light on, explained and announced the start of work on the technical side, while presenting the purpose and nature of the features that these first two buildings will contain and offer to the market of Belgrade, Serbia and the region of Southeast Europe.
The Mayor of Belgrade announced that next year at the same place it will be presented what was done in the meantime, just as it was done this year in comparison to MIPIM 2014, when the scale model of the entire project "Belgrade Waterfront" had its premiere. It could be said that, by traditionally taking place every year, MIPIM participates in the construction and the story of the development of "Belgrade Waterfront "project.
In the first two days of MIPIM 2015, almost greatest media attention was drawn by the presentation of the city of Kiev led by the new Mayor Mr. Vitali Klitschko, once world-famous boxer. On the wings of the military and political crisis in Ukraine, the performance of Mayor Klitschko was primarily focused on attracting potential investors. As he said: "Come now and make the highest profit. Every delay and slow reactions of yours will reduce your profit that you can already make in Kiev today".
The general impression of the first two days of MIPIM 2015 is that the visit is standard and on average just as it was in the last few years. Somewhat less space is leased but stands are still of very high quality and fully equipped. A variety of everyday and high-quality presentations are being delivered at almost every stand.
The overall visit from Serbia has drastically increased. There were several places where one could, at the same time, talk about the projects in Serbia, so we hope that we are at the beginning of a restart of the promotion projects in Serbia and the announcement of the arrival of better investment time.
We will have a chance to witness this next year during MIPIM 2016.
