Antonio Perez Montes, Founder and Managing Partner, Abacus & Partners
Founder and Managing Partner of Abacus & Partners (www.abacuspartners.eu ) an independent investment and business development company established in 2005 with main activities in South East Europe and Spain.
During the last two years he has completed over € 75 million in Private Equity Fund Secondary market transactions in Spain and Portugal including tram, light metro and port facilities concessions interests. Currently is developing a large pipe line of concession opportunities and advises a large Swiss investment funds and a Spanish construction company for Concessions and PPP (highways, underground parking, airport, bus terminals water distribution, etc.). –Aguas de Barcelona– Assignia Infraestructuras, Bruesa, Joca, Bogaria, Ercross, Newbury Partners, Headway Capital Partners, Partners Group, the Baupost Group, KKR etc.
Abacus is the SEE local partner of the Society for the Development of Infrastructures. (SPINEQ) and has participated in adapting the Bulgarian Concession and PPP Law to the EU standards (through a EU twining program with the Spanish Ministry of Public Works)
Antonio has been operational in South-Eastern Europe since 1994, the initial six years from London, as senior banker at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development where he launched several private equity funds for a combined value of over €500 million. From 2000 to 2002 Antonio managed the Bulgarian Post Privatization Fund, a € 50 million fund with eight companies in its portfolio. Since mid 2003 he has been completed to investment cycles in real estate in Bulgaria, where he completed over 20 transactions.
Antonio brings to the team established investment management capabilities and very good knowledge of the local business environment. He is Master in Industrial Engineering for Zaragoza University and MBA for IESE of Barcelona. Married with two sons and a daughter, bilingual in English and Spanish and speaks some Bulgarian.
