Álvaro Costa brings extensive experience in retail real estate, operations, and leasing, with a strong focus on shopping malls and mixed-use developments. His career began during the early development of modern shopping malls in Iberia, where he was part of the leasing teams behind several landmark projects. He later transitioned into shopping center management, taking on leadership roles across commercial, marketing, and operations functions.
Álvaro has significant international experience, notably with Sonae Sierra, where he served as Operations Manager in Romania and supported local teams in Greece and Italy. From 2010 to May 2022, he was Head of Leasing for Portugal, leading a team responsible for a portfolio exceeding 950,000 m² of GLA.
Since June 2022, Álvaro has been based in Kosovo, where he was appointed Managing Director of Property Management Kosovo, Sonae Sierra’s local branch. In this role, he led a multidisciplinary team focused on training and supporting the local management of Prishtina Mall. He was subsequently appointed CEO of Prishtina Mall, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. Under his leadership, the team successfully executed a strategic turnaround, establishing fully operational management systems and preparing the mall for long-term growth. Prishtina Mall is now positioned as a superregional retail destination—one of the most significant in the Western Balkans—marking a new chapter of sustained development and regional impact.
